The exploits of this survey would almost fill a book, but after coping with burst suspension, leaking oil coolers, and floods, the car finally expired near Indore with a blown head gasket and finished its trip to Bombay on the back of a lorry. Den Green the works mechanic who was supposed to drive the car back to the UK inspected the 1800 and found it also had a cracked block and the suspension was "shot". The car was left in Bombay, Q. Did it ever get back to the UK?

They left the control in number order.
Graham White ended up in hospital after falling down an inspection pit in Sivas and ruptured a kidney.
Co-driver David Dunnell followed the Rally as far as Bombay then drove the car back to the UK single handed in 10 days

The DS 21 Citroen Team - Lucien Bianchi and Jean Claude Ogier, coming through the eastern end of the Moralana Scenic Track just on sunrise (Australia) - he was about the third car through.
