A British entrant, Peter Wilson's Ford Corsair 2000E, did a double roll after leaving the road 50 miles from Tehran, writing finis to its Marathon chances. Fortunately the three-man crew was not injured. Wilson, a driving instructor, returned to Tehran by taxi.
He said the car had overturned and hit a post at the top of a fifty foot drop when passing a Mercedes.
