Actor Terry Thomas' silver Ford Cortina 1600E was streaking along a dirt road when up came a blind bend and the car ended in axle deep dust. Russian Moskviches were next along the road, travelling in convoy. Eight hefty Russian crewman practically threw the Cortina back on the road, and the crew made a mental note to buy them a bottle of the best champagne when they reached Bombay.

Britain's Alec Sheppard, driving a Ford Cortina 1600, car no. 96, left the road between Delhi and Bombay, plunging into a 12 foot ditch.

Police reported Sheppard's car went out of control while rounding a bend at a railway crossing near Agra City. Both drivers in the car were injured. Sheppard broke his collarbone and his co-driver Ron Rogers suffered abrasions.
